Al Weatherhead said, "Your adversity is real. It cannot change. But it can be transformed."
Hows that for telling it how it is, "Your adversity is real". I am finding more and more that if I face a situation head on (write it down even), and then ask how to I get from here to where I want to be, solutions always pop into my mind. Sometimes though it means taking a break and making sure I have something to write on when I'm doing something mundane like the dishes or having a shower. Making it real means your mind gets into action to do something about it.

Following on from yesterday Lee Iacocca said, "If you want to make good use of your time, you've got to know what's most important and then give it all you've got."
When you stop and think, really think, you will know exactly what is really important to do today and everyday. Make a list of those things and launch into them like a bull at a gate.
It amazes me what happens when I do just that - fantastic stuff.

Kathleen Winsor said, "Most people are so busy knocking themselves out trying to do everything they think they should do, they never get around to do what they want to do."
Think about your day so far for a minute. ....... What have you knocked yourself out doing so far today? I've probably been doing the same thing so I'm writing this so that we all stop, think and make sure we do what we want to do before the end of the day.

P.D. Ospensky said, "It is only when we realize that life is taking us nowhere that it begins to have meaning."
Have you asked yourself the hard question; where is my life going? Not the easiest to answer and my direction does change from time to time. But there are overriding values and goals that never change and as long as I stick to them I am on the right course for me.
Do you what your top 5 values are?

Leslie Fieger said, "Any fool can run towards the light. It takes a master with courage to turn and face the darkness and shine his own light there."
This quote really made me think, "Am I shining my light on the darkness?". I feel sure I am sometimes but the light looks awfully warm. Are you shining the light on the darkness and lighting your own path?

The Japanese have a saying: "The nail that sticks out, gets pounded down."
In New Zealand we talk about the "Tall Poppy Syndrome" but I feel sure most of that is in our heads. Yes you might get pounded down if you stick out. But, more often than not you will find others who are sticking out and together you can resist the pounding and get on with building something great.

Virginia Satir said, "Once a human being has arrived on this earth, communication is the largest single factor determining what kinds of relationships he makes with others and what happens to him in the world about him."
Your relationships do depend do how you communicate with others. I sometimes have trouble communicating my ideas to someone because once I meet them, and discuss their needs I have heaps of ideas for them, and I have to somehow communicate the one idea that will change the game for them. However people perceive me as being passionate about what I do so it generally works out.
I got asked this question recently by Jenni from Success Formula and it really made me think of my communication; How do you think people perceive you?

Orison Swett Marden said, "Most of our obstacles would melt away if, instead of cowering before them, we should make up our minds to walk boldly through them."
If you have watched fantasy movies there are lots of times where people come up against a foe who when cowered before is powerful and strong. Yet when stood up to disappears because they were an illusion. When you come across an obstacle be strong and your mind will come up 10X more creative ways to get through it than if you cower and allow it to beat you.

Fr. Alfred D'Souza said, "For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin -- real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be got through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life."
Life wouldn't be the same (or even life) without obstacles. Your life is happening now, this is it. The irate client, the mortgage and the credit card bill are life. It's your attitude towards them that make it "real" or not. Be optimistic, hold your head up, look people in the eye, smile, take responsibility and make decisions. Your life will become more than real, it will become amazing.

Augustus William Hare and Julius Charles Hare once wrote, "People cannot go wrong, if you don't let them. They cannot go right, unless you let them."
I give people enough leeway and responsibility to let them go right and hope they don't go wrong too often. But when they do, and they do, I trust they will learn and only do that mistake once.
The same of course applies to me.

Betty Smith said, "Look at everything as though you were seeing it either for the first or last time."
Most people would say the first time you look at something is the most amazing but what about the last time. If you weren't going to see a sunset again, how amazing would that last one look? If you weren't going to see your loved ones again how much passion would you have?
Start looking like that today. Don't wait. The world looks completely different.

Dan Heist said, "When you realize you've made a mistake, make amends immediately. It's easier to eat crow while it's still warm."
Sorry for the late minimotivator. Just realised I hadn't written it and immediately jumped online. Hope I catch a few of you to let you know you did great this week and to take a break this weekend, or on the way home by just sitting in silence. I turned my phone on silent, the car radio off and drove home with only my thoughts. Arrived home relaxed and ready for the weekend.

R.D. Laing said, "Madness need not be all breakdown. It may also be break-through."
I'm feeling quite manic at the moment. As I type this I have a million things to do and I'm thinking I'm going crazy. But I know that if I can hold it together and get my tasks done something big is going to happen. You might be feeling the same way too. Let me know so we can all share in the break-through.

Mark Twain said, "You can't depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus."
Is your imagination out of focus? I'm not sure how I would know but I feel sure if you can't see dragons or Kiwi's or pirates or parrots, when you look at the clouds, you need to refocus your imagination. Read some fantasy or sit with a kid for 15 minutes and ask them what they see. When you can see it too I feel positive your imagination will be back in focus.

Someone once said, "Present your family and friends with their eulogies now - they won't be able to hear how much you love them and appreciate them from inside the coffin."
Without your friends, family, colleagues and team mates life would be boring. I have had a very interesting day today and it's those kinds of relationships that make the day easier when life's a little rough. Tell those people how much you appreciate them, watch them smile, watch them beam and catch the light. It's great.

Joseph Campbell said, "The big question is whether you are going to be able to say a hearty yes to your adventure."
What is your idea of an adventure? Mine is every day life with the odd big thing thrown in. That might sound boring but I say yes to my adventure every day and it makes whatever I'm doing much more exciting.

Christopher Reeve said, "Once you choose hope, anything's possible."
Hoping and wishing is not something I prescribe to but 'hope' I feel is different. Hope gets you through when you have your back against the wall. Hope keeps you in the optimistic frame of mind that allows you to be creative and come up with great ideas. Hope gives you courage and strength and we can all do with that.

John Foster Dulles said, "The measure of success is not whether you have a tough problem to deal with, but whether it's the same problem you had last year."
Overcoming problems / challenges is how you move forward. Making sure it's a different problem makes you learn, grow and succeed. Dealing with the same problem means you didn't learn enough last time. Learn lots. Your brain is a wonderful thing that needs to be stretched.

David Frost said, "Don't aim for success if you want it; just do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally."
You will find this hard to believe if you have a mortgage and you love stamp collecting and it hasn't made you any money. However, it depends on your idea of success. If you are paying the mortgage and have 5 hours a week to talk about, search out and [collect stamps], I think you're successful already.
Insert your own your passion, family or sport, whatever into the [brackets] above.
